The Cleveland Rollercade at 6800 Denison Avenue in Cleveland
Ohio opened in about 1941. The building was originally
an arena for equestrian, stockyard, and boxing events.
At the height of its popularity the Cleveland Rollercade
had as many as 2400 skaters a night but by the 1960's
nightly attendance had dropped to fewer then 300 skaters.
The Cleveland Rollercade closed in 1968 and the
building was converted into a grocery store.

Converted to a roller skating rink in 1940 and 1941

Once sources says skating floor was 260 feet by 120 feet
Per Postcard: Main Skating Surface:: 90 X 200 feet
Per Postcard: Separate Figure Rink: 33 x 270 feet
Per Postcard: Main Lobby: 33 x 270 feet
Maximum capacity was 3000 people
Parking lot could accommodate 5000 cars
Ceiling had ten colored lights
Had club rooms, showers, offices, refreshment bar
Operated by Clarence and De Forest Reynolds
Managed by acrobatic speed skater Jack Dalton
Highest attendance was 2400 people in the 1940's
Music was supplied by an electric organ
Wurlitzer organ from the Palace Theater was installed in 1960
3 years later the organ was sold and removed
By mid 1960's attendance dropped to under 300 people a night
Rink was closed and converted to a supermarket in 1968
